Builder choice can affect frontend output, but performance is a system property: theme, plugins, hosting, images, fonts, caching, scripts, content complexity, and implementation all matter.
Avoid one-number comparisons
Benchmarks are useful only when test conditions are comparable. A lightweight demo page does not predict a plugin-heavy production store, and an old benchmark may not reflect a current builder release.
Evaluate the workflow too
- DOM and CSS complexity on representative pages.
- How much unused CSS/JS reaches the browser.
- Core Web Vitals on realistic templates.
- Image and font handling.
- Whether the team can maintain performance as content grows.
Divi 5 was rebuilt with performance as a major architectural goal; existing Divi 4 modules running through backward compatibility do not receive all of those gains.
